Difficult in swallowing (Dysphagia)

Dysphagia is common in all age groups, especially in the elderly. Difficulty in swallowing refers to the feeling of difficulty while food and liquids are passing from the mouth into the stomach.

This condition can be caused by many factors most of which are not dangerous and are temporary. Difficulty in swallowing rarely indicates a significant pathology such as a tumor or progressive neurological disease. If dysphagia doesn't heal by itself within a short time, it should be evaluated by an otolaryngologist.
