One of today's most effective imaging technique, PET CT ( Positron Emission Tomography ) is utilized for diagnosis, staging , treatment response assessment and radiotherapy planning of many cancers, including particularly lung , colon, head - neck cancers and lymphomas. PET CT is also informative about the distribution of cancerous cells and allows determination of whether a cancer is benign or malignant.
What is endoscopy?
Endoscopy means examination of tube-like organs using a soft tube-like device with a video camera on its tip. Gastroscopy means an endoscopic examination utilized in the case of gastric reflux disease. In the case of gastroscopy, esophagus, stomach and duodenum are examined by a tube-like device of approximately 9 mm in width. This examination should be performed by a physician with experience on this field holding a certificate of expertise issued by ministry of health. Today, with facilities provided by technology, this examination can be performed without any discomfort to the patient in a short time of about 5-6 minutes. It is adequate for gastroscopy examination that the patient is in fasting state for minimum 6hrs.
