Genetic Screening

Genetic predisposition to cancer is determined by genetic tests. Genetic tests are performed in the form of an examination of DNA obtained from cells in the blood or other body fluids. Anyone who carries the following risk factors should undergo such examinations.

  • Cancer is seen at an earlier age than average, especially before the age of 50
  • In the family, especially the same type of cancer occurs in more than one generation
  • If two or more family members had the same type of cancer
  • Detection of two or more different types of cancer in the same close relative
  • Detection of cancer in both breasts
  • Occurrence of cancer in several close relatives
  • The appearance of a number of rare cancers in the family
  • Occurrence of many polyps in the stomach or intestines
