Hysterosalpingography ( HSG)
Hysterosalpingography (HSG) uterus and tube film with contrast medium is a widely used procedure to investigate structural and functional properties of cervical canal, uterus and fallopian tubes. The procedure is based on imaging uterine cavity by administering a special fluid into the uterine cavity.
By this method,
- It can be identified whether tubes are open during medical assessment of inability to conceive.
- Where menstruation has stopped after an intervention into the cervix or uterus (such as abortion), a possible occlusion in cervical canal or a possible adhesion inside the uterus (Asherman's syndrome) can be evaluated.
- In the case of recurrent miscarriages, presence of a congenital development defect in the uterus can be detected.
