A long time before birth of the child, in the first weeks of development, left and right edges of the lips and the palate form together. However, about one in every 1,000 infants, a normal association does not occur. Lips and palate develop separately so cleft lip and palate can be seen in several variations.
Significant progress has been obtained in the treatment of children born with cleft lip and palate and there is no obstacle preventing most of you from having a normal, healthy and happy life.
